We love the Mothercare Expectant Parent events. In Hull and Gateshead we have established relations between the famous store and My Baby Can Dance. We deliver a public interest stall that gives new families information about My Baby Can Dance and Newborn Can Dance the aims, objectives and achievements.

100’s of families have been engaged in learning about the ‘My Baby’ methods and how very young children can become engaged in early years learning. A positive start you’d say, well yes, but positive starts come in many forms.

Positivity towards giving the very young experiences is crucial. Sharing the process with your tots create the support bond between parent and child. So, for example, tears from your child because a song has come to the end… Disappointment. Is disappointment a feeling that he/she should be protected from or positively embraced?  Well, in reality Yes, it’s an emotional feeling, one that can be expressed in many forms. If you feel the emotion then you can deal with it, refer back to that emotion and express it, therefore becoming less of a shock to the system.

Now, whilst I’m not suggesting that you disappoint children all the time by any stretch of the imagination, a balance of emotions to deal with can have a positive impact in later years.

My Baby Can Dance sessions offer the opportunity for little ones to become socially aware and with the support of his/her parent or carer and of course the trained Leader a whole barrel of emotions can be experienced and controlled in a happy settled environment.

In summary : happy, sad and everything in-between, should be experienced – balanced – loved. Emotional wellbeing starts at grass roots.
